      Farmonize is a growing startup: we help people grow their own food, and we are growing our team so we can grow more things, and reach more people and farmers! We’re looking for people interested in farm to fork and sustainability, and want to work directly in these areas to make them more mainstream and accessible to consumers.       Operations Coordinator

       

      This role focuses primarily on coordinating farming activity with farmers, with a secondary focus on keeping our clients updated on the progress of their microfarms. The ideal candidate will have experience in the agricultural field (either academic or practical) as well as some experience in dealing with customer service.

       

      We are looking for operations coordinators to join our startup team who truly believe in the concepts of sustainable farming and are interested in helping to support farmers in doing what they do best: farming. You will help our clients gain a deeper appreciation of the work that goes into farming and demonstrate that sustainable farming is not only good for the environment, but good for farmers and consumers as well. This position will offer you a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge of agriculture in a way that has the potential to substantially improve both the lives of consumers and sustainable farmers, and to give yourself valuable experience working in a true startup that seeks to disrupt the way that people engage and interact with the people and places growing their food.

       

      Responsibilities

      • Act as primary liaison between Farmonize and farmers as well as clients
      • Visit farms weekly to evaluate and document farming progress
      • Organize and report information to clients about activities and progress of farming work
      • Respond to customer service issues and requests as needed by clients
      • Brainstorm and implement solutions to issues faced on the farm and in customer service
      • Other tasks on an as-needed basis

      Requirements

      • Local Chinese and foreigners with Chinese ability both welcome. Minimum Advanced Level Chinese; minimum Upper Intermediate English ability (IELTS 5-6, TOEFL iBT 35-59);
      • Minimum 15 hours per week (most work available to be worked remotely), including some weekends as needed
      • Undergraduate degree in agricultural related field or hands-on farming experience of at least 2 years
      • Fully proficient with productivity suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

      Business Development Intern

       

      This position is a paid internship

       

      You will report directly to the CEO and founder of the company, Roger Mu, an urban farming expert and precision agriculture system designer that has been developing hydroponics and aquaponics systems and spreading farming knowledge in Shanghai since 2009.

       

      We are looking for business development interns to join our startup team who truly believe in the concepts of sustainable development and are interested in working in the food technology sector. You will help people gain a deeper appreciation of the work that goes into farming and demonstrate that sustainable farming is not only good for the environment, but good for farmers and consumers as well. Furthermore, you will be working in a startup that has the potential to disrupt the food industry, so if you love food and want to do something that is truly unique, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

      Interns will work directly with local farmers using sustainable methods, have a direct role in researching and developing business models and hardware systems to reduce and recycle food waste.

       

      You will learn how to create and validate concepts and hypotheses through design prototyping, and implementing systems that help reduce and recycle food waste.

       

      You will act as a Farmonize ambassador in promoting its farming services programs through implementing marketing strategies to reach target consumers. This internship will give you the opportunity to meet and interact with individuals and companies that are leading the way in the sustainable agriculture, sustainable technology, urban farming, insect farming, and food technology startup fields.

       

      Responsibilities

      • Attend meetings with farmers and assist in interpretation and note taking
      • Organize and report information about activities and progress of farming work
      • Attend networking, community, and social events to spread the word about Farmonize’s vegetable and livestock programs
      • Disseminate marketing content across a wide range of online channels
      • Carry out agricultural and sustainability related research
      • Brainstorm ideas and solutions to complex issues and problems that startups face and practical methods of implementation
      • Other tasks on an as-needed basis

      Requirements

      • Native Chinese speaker; Upper Intermediate English ability (IELTS 5-6, TOEFL iBT 35-59)
      • Minimum 6 week commitment, 5 days per week (including some weekends)
      • Interest in agriculture, sustainable development, or food technology
      • Fully proficient with productivity suite software

      Marketing Coordinator

      The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting all tasks related to increasing the profile of the Farmonize brand through the production of marketing content and attendance of various events that appeal to potential Farmonize clients.

      Responsibilities

      • Ensuring that client demands are being carried out in an accurately and timely way

      • Acting as primary liaison between Farmonize and farmers

      • Visiting farms to observe, evaluate, and document the condition of vegetables/livestock

      Requirements

      • Undergraduate degree in agricultural related field

      • Chinese language ability

      Sales Manager

      This role focuses on the management of farming services for our clients. This includes communicating with the farmers about day-to-day work and issues regarding our clients vegetables and livestock, and generating reports about the status of vegetables/livestock so clients can stay up to date.

       

      Responsibilities

      • Ensuring that client demands are being carried out in an accurately and timely way

      • Acting as primary liaison between Farmonize and farmers

      • Visiting farms to observe, evaluate, and document the condition of vegetables/livestock

      Requirements

      • Undergraduate degree in agricultural related field

      • Chinese language ability
